Diversion Dam Danger, City Candidates for 2010

With water levels soaring and summer vacation about to begin one of the attractions on a hot summer’s day is water. The diversion dam at pioneer park seems to be a hot spot for some. Chief Billy Janes warns everyone to stay away from this free falling water. Although it may look fun there is extreme danger their.

With the high levels of water, the force of the water creates an under tow and current that is hard to fight. 3 Children and 1 Adult have drowned at the diversion dam in the past 7 years. I encourage parents to take a trip to Pioneer Park and walk down to the diversion dam, show your children where the potential dangers are.

During any given year the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation program actively works with more than 4000 of Wyoming’s citizens with disabilities. On average approximately 700 of those citizens successfully complete a rehabilitation program and enter the workforce.
On Thursday from noon to 1 at EWC Career Training Center – Goshen County Workforce Alliance will have a Guest Speaker: Barb Pearson. The topic: “What is Vocational Rehabilitation and Who is Eligible?” this meeting is free and open to the public.
